Terms

The terms we work to

Short, in plain words, and the same for everybody. A fixed price before we set off, payment when the work is done, no deposit, and nothing charged if we arrive and cannot get in.

Who you are dealing with

East Cambs Oven Cleaning is a trading name of Fixr Systems Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 15889598. We are not registered for VAT, so there is no VAT to add to anything quoted on this site.

Our registered office is 12 Buntings Path, Burwell, Cambridge, CB25 0EG. That is the address for anything formal, and it is on the public register at Companies House. It is not a shop and there is nothing to visit: for anything you actually want an answer to, use the contact form, which we read.

Quotes and prices

The price is fixed in writing before we set off and it is the price you pay. A single oven is £75 and a double £90; the full list is on the prices page. The minimum for a visit is £70, which only comes into it when there is no oven in the job.

The condition of an appliance never changes the price. The only thing that does is an appliance that was not mentioned when you asked, and that is a new line on the quote rather than a surprise on the invoice. If we find one on the day we tell you the price before we touch it.

Travel is included within 12 miles of Burwell and a flat £10beyond it, and it is in the number you are given before you book.

Paying

Payment is due when the work is finished, by cash or bank transfer. There is no deposit, nothing is taken up front, and there is no call out fee.

Booking, changing and cancelling

Tell us as soon as you can if a date stops working and we will move it. Nothing is charged for changing or cancelling a booking.

Because bookings are made at a distance, you also have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of booking without giving a reason.

How to use it. Tell us, in any way that leaves a record: the contact form, a text or a letter. You do not have to give a reason and you do not have to use any particular form of words. “I want to cancel” is enough. The clock runs for 14 days from the day we agree the booking, and sending it on the fourteenth day counts.

If you want us to come inside those 14 days, which most people do, we need you to say so, and when you book a date inside that window you are asking us to start early. That matters because it is the only thing that lets us charge for work already done if you cancel part way through. You keep the right to cancel either way. What changes is that you would owe us for the work carried out up to that point, and nothing more.

In practice, since nothing is paid in advance and the work is one visit, this almost always means you owe nothing.

If we cannot get in

Nothing is charged. We rebook it. All we ask is that you tell us if something changes, so we are not standing on a doorstep working it out.

What we need on the day

Somebody to let us in, power, water, enough room to work in front of the appliance and somewhere clear to lay the oven door down. For an empty property between tenants, please check the power and the water are still on.

The appliance needs to be cold. An AGA or any cast iron range has to be shut down in advance, which we agree with you when you book.

What will not come back

Some damage is already done before we arrive: a pitted base, crazed door glass, enamel that has been scoured, catalytic liners that have had caustic cleaner on them. None of that comes back, whoever cleans it.

We tell you which parts those are before we start rather than afterwards, and the price stands for the work we do on everything else.

If something goes wrong

If the cleaning itself is not right. Tell us and we will come back and do it again, at no charge. That is your first remedy in law for a service, and it is ours by choice as well. If coming back cannot fix it, or we cannot do it within a reasonable time and without causing you significant inconvenience, you can ask for money back instead, in proportion to what was wrong.

If we damage something of yours. That is a different thing from the cleaning being poor, and it is not capped by anything on this page. If we break, mark or ruin something through our own carelessness, whether it is the appliance or anything else in your kitchen, we put it right or pay for it.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. The limit that does apply is a narrow one: for the cleaning work itself, our responsibility is to do it again or refund it. It is not a cap on damage we cause to your property, and it does not take away any right you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Your rights, and where this applies

Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected by anything on this page. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

All of that fits on one page because there is not much to it: a fixed price, paid when the work is done.
